Brandon Davis Pulling Double Duty this Weekend

Orange County Native Competes at Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
and Toyota Speedway at Irwindale

(April 15, 2011  -  Long Beach, CA)  WC Vision driver, Brandon Davis, will be working overtime this weekend during the 37th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.  By day, the former World Challenge GT Champion (2009) will be competing on the street circuit of Long Beach; by night, he will be rubbing doors on the oval track at Irwindale Speedway in the Late Model Series.  The 25-year-old driver, of Huntington Beach, CA, will drive the #10 Applied Computer Solutions Mustang GT with a goal of repeating his 2008 victory at Long Beach.

“Oval track and street circuit racing require different disciplines and not many techniques can be transferred from sports cars to stock cars, besides pure race craft,” said Davis. “Since they are so different and don’t influence each other, it shouldn’t be too difficult to switch back and forth between the two throughout the weekend.”

The Grand Prix of Long Beach has always been a favorite circuit for Davis, who placed third in 2010 on the notorious oceanfront course.  “It’s always a treat to come back to Long Beach,” said Brandon Davis who has finished on the podium in each appearance, including his first professional GT win in 2008. “I remember coming to this race as a kid and thinking how cool it would be to race here. After racing at different tracks around North America, Long Beach is still one of the most exciting events for drivers and spectators.”

Davis has an extensive background in road racing, winning the 2009 World Challenge GT Championship and the 2005 Rookie of the Year honors in World Challenge Touring Car, but has recently shifted onto the NASCAR oval circuit. Last year marked Davis’ rookie season as an oval competitor where he earned four poles and 6 top-five finish including season finale victory.

Davis combined his road course skills with a stock car at Infineon Raceway in June, 2010 and finished an impressive 3rd during NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend in the West Series.   The 2011 season will bring more changes and challenges for Davis as he gears up to compete in the NASCAR K & N Pro Series West for five events, a full Late Model season at Irwindale, and a few World Challenge road races.

Brandon Davis is sponsored by Applied Computer Solutions, headquartered in Huntington Beach.  “We like the Grand Prix of Long Beach on multiple levels,” said Mike Davis, CEO of Applied Computer Solutions and father of the racer. “Southern California is the epicenter for hotrods and race cars.  Many of our customers in the technology field share the passion we have for cars. The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is the perfect venue to showcase cutting edge technology in the automotive and information fields.”
