BRANDON DAVIS
With just two races remaining on the SPEED World Challenge GT schedule, Brandon Davis leads the battle for the championship. In his second full season, he has been a strong GT contender driving the #10 Ford Mustang Cobra sponsored by Applied Computer Solutions and Sun Microsystems. Leading up to Road Atlanta, Brandon Davis has shown impressive skill on each track celebrating on the podium six times and taking the top spot at Mid-Ohio scoring his only victory of the season. He started from the pole at Mosport, Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio. Brandon Davis remains calmly focused on the team’s consistent reliability and wants nothing more than to duplicate last year’s win at Road Atlanta. Mathematically, the Championship is not determined and Davis simply needs to outpace his competitors until the last lap at Laguna Seca’s season finale to secure the coveted title.
In 2008, Brandon Davis scored two victories (Long Beach Grand Prix and RoadAtlanta), qualified on the pole three times with six podium finishes in the 10 races. He finished the season Third in Championship points.
From 2004 – 2007, he raced in the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship in a Real-Time Acura. Besides winning the 2005 Rookie of the Year honors, he earned an impressive eight Top-10 finishes in 11 events and his first career pole position. Davis’ first victory was scored at the 2006 Grand Prix of Denver by 0.005 seconds in the closest finish in series history, ending the year with nine-top ten finishes. In 2007, he scored four top-ten finishes including a third place at Laguna Seca. After celebrating on the podium, he suited up for the World Challenge GT race with his father, Mike Davis, in a Saleen SR finishing 12th.
The father and son team made their racing debut in the Trans-Am Seriers on Father’s Day in 2004 at the Portland International Raceway. Brandon Davis raced in the #99 Spy Ford Mustang at Portland, Infineon Raceway and Denver Grand Prix, all with top ten finishes.
Brandon took his first laps in a go-kart at seven years old and to this day, he races in shifter karts. The transition from go-karts to stock cars took place at Danny McKeever’s Fast Lane Racing School and with private coaching from Boris Said.
