SON BRANDON DAVIS MAKES DAD PROUD
WITH VICTORY AT LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX

The son shined brightly Sunday during the SPEED World Challenge GT Race presented by Applied Computer System at the 34th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Brandon Davis, son of team owner and driver Mike Davis, grabbed the pole position and then the race victory, capturing his second career win and first in this series. In the ACS Express #10 Ford Mustang Cobra, Brandon Davis charged to the front in the morning qualifying session and held onto the top position in a flawless performance in his first time driving this historic track.

“I remember watching my dad and pretty much everyone else race here in the past in Trans Am, so to come here and win is very special,” said Davis, a resident of nearby Huntington Beach. “It feels amazing. To be the guy that got the win here for this team is very special.

“The Long Beach Grand Prix is always a ‘mark the calendar’ event. It’s the biggest race of the year for us.”
A smiling Mike Davis, who finished seventh in the #11 ASC Express Racing Ford Mustang Cobra, said, “I don’t think I could have scripted it ay better. I’m a proud pappa.”

Brandon’s day began when he captured his second pole position in as many races this season. He roared down Shoreline Drive from the standing start, only to be passed briefly before regaining the lead in Turn One. It was a position he would never relinquish, fighting off challenges on three restarts to take the checkered flag.

“One thing I’ve learned from my dad’s experience here is that there is really an accordion effect in Turn One and into the fountain turn,” David said. “So if you stay to the inside at one, it’s really hard for anyone to go by you, because even if you get through one faster, you can’t pass anyone going into the fountain turn because it’s one lane. That’s what I did on all the restarts too—stay to the inside.”

Brandon Davis is now second in SPEED World Challenge GT driver points. His first career win was in the SPEED Touring Car race in Denver in 2006. Father Mike Davis is seventh in SPEED World Challenge GT driver points.

The Long Beach SPEED GT Presented by Applied Computer Solutions race will air on SPEED Wednesday, April 30, at noon (EDT), 9 a.m. (PDT).

The next event is May 16 – 18 at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

ACS Express Racing is also supported by these associate sponsors: Red Line Oil and Mothers Polish and Wax.
