Drivers Represent World CHALLENGE at Thunderhill
WILLOWS, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2008) - Nine World Challenge drivers are keeping their skills sharp in this weekend by competing in a popular off-season event, the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
Three Word Challenge Touring Car drivers can be found on the Mazdaspeed/Team MER roster. Charles Espenlaub, Charlie Putman and 2008 Touring Car Rookie of the Year Jason Saini will take turns behind the wheel of the No. 19 Mazda MX-5.
ACS Express racing will be in attendance with, what else, but a Ford Mustang. Team owner Mike Davis will share driving duties with fellow World Challenge GT competitor Eric Curran behind the wheel of the No. 00 Mustang. The pair are joined by Sprint Cup driver and former Trans-Am Champion Boris Said.
James Clay is taking his BimmerWorld team across the country for the 25 Hours. Clay has not brought his World Challenge Touring Car BMW 325i with him however, instead he and his co-drivers will pilot the No. 3 BMW M3.
World Challenge GT driver Jeff Courtney will share the No. 27 Scion tC with two drivers familiar to the World Challenge ranks: Andrew Wojteczko and Gary Sheehan. The team is taking on Thunderhill with charity in mind, raising money and awareness for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, commonly referred to as the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
A charity run is also being made the Trimtex/Fall-Line Motorsports squad, who've asked World Challenge GT driver Brian Kubinski to join them at Thunderhill, while they raise donations for Shriners Hospitals for Children. The team has entered the No. 70 BMW M3.
As an instructor for Miller Motorsports Park, it"s no surprise to see Cindi Lux on the Larry Miller Racing roster. The team will campaign the No. 98 Ford Mustang.
Reigning World Challenge GT Champ Randy Pobst will be in the mix as well. Driving for GTI Racing, Pobst will share driving duties for the No. 07 BMW 328.
The 25 Hours of Thunderhill runs non-stop from 11 am (PST) on Saturday, Dec. 6, to noon on Sunday, Dec. 7.
